Electronic Freight Transport Information, also known as eFTI, is an EU standard aiming to create a coherent digital infrastructure model for information exchange and data concerning freight transport information. The objective of eFTI regulation is to encourage the digitization of freight transport and logistics, which in turn reduces administrative costs, improves supervisory capabilities of the competent authorities as well as increases the effiency and sustainability of transport. When the competent authorities accept information in electronic form, communication between the authorities and different actors improves. At the same time, the development of electronic communication between companies is accelerating throughout the European union.
In this Core Vocabulary, we have gathered the terminology used in eFTI profiles. The terminology utilizes UN/CEFACT - Buy Ship Pay Reference Data Model namespace when applicable.
